Cowgirl Living 2.0

Old Timey Cowgirl Living vs. New Internet Cowgirl Living

Back in the old west, when Pony Express was the only way to communicate, it was not uncommon to learn of a family member’s new crop abundance, a nephew’s accomplishments in school, and perhaps struggles they were facing.  It seems with the new age of technology, we have moved past courtesy, respect and general encouragement of others, to racing straight into being rude, insulting, obnoxious jerks with lightening speed.

The new era of the internet has made it easier for people to speak their minds be insulting without consequences – ie – hide behind the computer to throw jabs at people they’ve most likey have never met.   One should learn to debate with tact and respect, without belittling someone for having a different view or whatnot.  General respect is often pushed aside to make a point.  Points can be made without throwing punches, and you will be viewed as an adult, instead of a 3-year old throwing a temper tantrum!

Here are a few pointers when in forums and chatrooms:

  1. If you have to say “Don’t take this the wrong way”… then chances are you should reconsider what you are about to say.  Delete.
  2. Do not blame others for your actions.  Nobody made you act like an imbecile but yourself.
  3. Digging up and posting personal information on a rival is NEVER cool, and quite possibly is breaking a law.
  4. It won’t mean you’re weak if you turn the other cheek.  You don’t have to fight to be a man cowgirl.

A good cowgirl learns her life lessons, and should heed the mantra her mother always spoke: If you can’t say something nice, then don’t say anything at all.
